Visiting the Dead

After Circe had turned the men into pigs, and then returned them to normal, she told Odysseus he must go to the Land of the Dead to seek knowledge from Teiresias.  Odysseus journeys to the underworld where he meets up with Teiresias, who is blind.  Odysseus, fearful of all the dead around him, draws his sword.  Teirsesias tells Odysseus he will only speak to him if the sword is put away.  Odysseus complied. Teirsesias then precedes to tell Odysseus that should he venture on to the island of the Sun god (being Helios) he should stay away, far away, from the cattle residing there.  Also Teirsesias explains to inform Odysseus that when he finally arrives in Ithaca, his home won't be the joyous place it once was, many suitors will be fighting for Penelope.  Odysseus, to save his wife, must kill all suitors and then make sacrifices to Poseidon.  Odysseus takes this knowledge back to Circe, where the men continue on.

One Eyed! (cyclops)

Odysseus and his men venture on to an island of Cyclops'. While there, they 'meet' Polyphemus. a very grumpy cyclops.  He captures and holds them in his cave.  The crazy Polyphemus eats 2 of Odysseus' men! The smart man Odysseus, with the aide of his friends, hatches a plan.  They discover a sharp, wooden stake and burn the end to make it even pointy-er. Next while Polyphemus is asleep the men cleverly STAB! his eye multiple times blinding him! AH!
Earlier, Polyphemus had asked Odysseus his name, he replied 'Noh body'.
Therefore when Polyphemus called out, the other Cyclops said 'who hurt you?'
Polyhemus yelled- 'Noh body! Noh body hurt me!'
Odysseus, that trickster!
To escape the men cling to the stomachs of Polyphemus' sheep, riding them on to their boats. The blind Polyphemus- none the wiser. Polyphemus' dad is Poseidon, so while Odysseus is escaping, Polyphemus prays to Poseidon, that Odysseus never gets home, and if he does, the journey will be long and hard and his home will not be the happy place it once was.
