Visiting the Dead

After Circe had turned the men into pigs, and then returned them to normal, she told Odysseus he must go to the Land of the Dead to seek knowledge from Teiresias.  Odysseus journeys to the underworld where he meets up with Teiresias, who is blind.  Odysseus, fearful of all the dead around him, draws his sword.  Teirsesias tells Odysseus he will only speak to him if the sword is put away.  Odysseus complied. Teirsesias then precedes to tell Odysseus that should he venture on to the island of the Sun god (being Helios) he should stay away, far away, from the cattle residing there.  Also Teirsesias explains to inform Odysseus that when he finally arrives in Ithaca, his home won't be the joyous place it once was, many suitors will be fighting for Penelope.  Odysseus, to save his wife, must kill all suitors and then make sacrifices to Poseidon.  Odysseus takes this knowledge back to Circe, where the men continue on.
